The Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System, or Delhi Metro, is a rapid transit system in the Indian city of New Delhi operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited.

The Delhi Metro was opened on December 24, 2002, becoming one of Asia's newest rapid transit systems to be built. Trains operating within the network typically travel at speeds below 80 km/h.
The Metro Trains runs from 6:00 AM till 10:00 PM. The frequency of train services in the elevated section varies from 4 minutes during peak hours up to 6 minutes during non peak hours.

Each train consists of four coaches and can carry up to 240 seated and 300 standing passengers. All coaches are air- conditioned. Most of the stations have ATMs, food outlets, coffee shops etc.

Delhi Metro is committed to provide the highest standards in safety to each passenger. With this in view, all design and operations are done with a safety margin.
