A trip to Delhi would amount to much less if The National Rail Museum were not on your itinerary.

The Rail Transport Museum contains models of train engines and coaches and it is a train- lovers delight. Its pride is a model of India's very first train, a steam engine that made its journey from Mumbai to Thane in 1853.

The locomotives here are all displayed in the open although there is a museum as well, which is a storehouse of information on the history of railways in India.

The fine outdoor museum has on view a range of locomotives and carriages showcasing over 150 years of railways in India. A toy train takes children around the museum.

This one of its kind Museum takes the visitors on an exciting journey into railway history and heritage and depicts their contribution to the industrial and economic progress of the country.
